The Team
ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ / Edmonton in 2030 is being organized by a group of local fans and volunteers who are excited to bring a World Science Fiction Convention to Edmonton, Alberta.

Winston Pei
An avid science fiction fan and a regular at When Words Collide, Alberta’s largest conference for readers and writers, Winston Pei (he/they/il/iel) spends most of the rest of their time as a bookseller, designer, holistic librarian, community-builder, and professional generalist.

Marc-Julien Objois
A photographer and engineer, Marc-Julien Objois (he/him) has organized science education conferences and runs a monthly series of bar-room lectures called Nerd Nite Edmonton.

Linda Ensley
Linda Ensley (she/her) is a con volunteer and organizer for some of the largest conferences held in the US and Canada. Volunteer and attendee experience expert. Rules, regs and legalities guru.

Premee Mohamed (she/her) is a Nebula, Aurora, and World Fantasy award-winning scientist and speculative fiction author based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Barb Galler-Smith
Barb Galler-Smith (she/her) edits for On Spec: The Canadian Magazine of the Fantastic. She's taught middle school science, been a librarian, and has taught writing and mentored writers of all ages. She’s an author of short stories co-author of a Roman vs Celts fantasy series. Barb has a special interest in ensuring that every place is accessible for all attendees (blind, deaf, wheelchairs, etc.) and available in a respectful manner.
Her first Worldcon was Conadian 1994.

Tim Klassen (he/him) is an American/Canadian who fell in love with science fiction in all its forms in ‘70s Halifax. He's a librarian, ailurophile, and collector of all things SF and comics.

Kateryna Barnes
Kateryna Barnes (she/her; Kanienkehaka-Ukrainian) is a media scholar focusing on Indigenous perspectives on speculative narrative video games. She also plays too much D&D.

Marshall Boyd
Marshall (he/him) is a public servant and father. He has read some science fiction and fantasy and attended Worldcon occasionally. There's no such thing as too much D&D.

Malcolm Azania
Minister Faust (he/him) is an award-winning novelist, award-winning print journalist, radio host-producer, television host and associate producer, sketch comedy writer, video game writer, playwright, and poet. He has spoken and taught workshops widely.

Convention volunteer who has handled social media, program, photography, Olav Rokne (he/him) is a division head at Los Angeles 2026. He is a four-time Hugo finalist for fanzine alongside Amanda Wakaruk.

A librarian in her professional life, Amanda Wakaruk (she/her) is a frequent Worldcon volunteer who has worked on social media and photography. She is a four-time Hugo finalist for fanzine alongside Olav Rokne.

John Hayes
John Hayes (he/him) has been a convention chair or organizing committee member more than two dozen times. He has been a panelist at Bouchercon and many smaller cons. He is a lifelong SF reader, reviewer, writer, historian, enthusiast.

Daniel Koyata (he/him) is a Calgary-based (but Edmonton-loving) bookkeeper, roller derby enthusiast, and science fiction fan. He is mostly certain he exists.

An educator and bagpiper, Mike Johnson (he/him) has organized countless festivals and events. He can be found frequenting Nerd Nite in Edmonton.

Ed Picard
When your last name is Picard, sci-fi fandom comes naturally. Ed (he/him) is proud to be engaged with the Society as its legal counsel. His practice at Alberta Counsel, Alberta’s premier legal and lobby firm, includes civil litigation, administrative law, Indigenous law, municipal law, and labour and employment. He has previously served as legal counsel to the Alberta Court of Appeal and he has appeared before all levels of the provincial and federal Courts. Ed enjoys working with non-profit organizations across the province to help build and maintain good governance systems so that they may continue to live long and prosper.

Ross Lockwood
Ross Lockwood (he/him) is a passionate science educator and human spaceflight volunteer. He works as a data scientist, volunteers as a co-host of Nerd Nite Edmonton, and previously spent four months simulating daily life in a Mars habitat.
